What is Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a game based off of the movie made in 1974. It is about a family of cannibals who eat anyone who comes into their territory. A group of oblivious teenagers go to their property and start to snoop around, getting picked off one by one. This game recreates these actions, but gives the “victims” the chance to escape.

How does the game work?

In this game, there are four Victims and three Family Members. You are able to select your own character, but if somebody else already is using that character, you are unable to sleect them. If you choose to, you may request a trade with that player and they can switch characters with you. This works on both Victim and Killers. If the player is ready, you are unable to switch with them. You cannot switch from a Victim to Family, or vice versa.

Victim

As you may see from the video on the right, Victim is the harder role of the game. Your goal is to try and escape from the basement, and then escape the map through one of the four exits. Each exit is opened a different way, an example of an exit is shown in the video. A Victim can have different ways of playing the game, either playing it quietly or quickly. The faster you try and rush through all the exits, the more noise you make, waking Grandpa.

Family

There are several different family members to choose from. Each one of the family members have their own abilities, for example, the family member “Sissy” has poison clouds that slows and disorients victims. You are able to level up their abilities by playing multiple games and getting enough expirience (XP) to upgrade. There are three different trees when upgrading, one may be the duration of the ability, others may be the damage or speed of the ability. There are three levels, but be careful when upgrading, because once you unlock one o fthe upgrades, you cannot reset it.

Is This Game Good for Kids?

I would say probably not. This game has a severe amount of blood and gore that cannot be disabled. Most of this game you will either be having blood on your clothes, or on your screen. I would not recommend this game for anyone under the age of 14. This is because at around this age, kids should start to understand what is happening and they shouldn’t be easily influenced by the game.

Voice Chat

In this game, there are three stages of the voice chat. At the start of the match before everyone enters into the game, voice chat is enabled for everyone. This means that you are able to hear everyone in the lobby, the enemies and your teammates. This could be dangerous as there is no filter on voice chat meaning anyone could say anything they wanted without any consequences, as the report system in the game is very weak at the moment. You are able to disable your voice chat, but this may harm your gameplay as you will need to communicate with your team to be able to escape or make sure nobody escapes.

In the second stage, you are in the game. You are only able to hear your teammates. This stage is fine as most people no longer say rude things and start to focus on the match itself. In this stage, you will hear a surplus of communication if your team decided to use their microphones.

The third stage happens at the end of the game, when no more Victims are left in the match, whether by escaping or dying. This stage is exactly like teh first stage, there is full chatting allowed without any censoring. This is usually where most of the toxcicity comes as people may get angry that they lost, or make fun of the other team because they won.

Overall?

I think that this game has a lot of potential to teach people how to cooperate with their team but I believe that they first need to understand what is out in the world, and not everyone is going to be nice. I personally have been playing these games, as seen from the videos above. If you truly think your child can handle blood and gore, then go ahead, let them try!
